SIS Sees Substantial Growth in ASC Technology Adoption

Written by SIS Corporate | October 27, 2022

Ambulatory surgery centers reap significant benefits from comprehensive cloud-based ASC software.

Atlanta, GA, October 27, 2022 – Surgical Information Systems (“SIS”), the industry leader for business and clinical surgical software serving more than 2,300 ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and hospitals, today reports that SIS Complete™, its cloud-based surgery center software, is the fastest growing ASC administrative and electronic health record software technology in industry history.

SIS solutions assist ASCs in their mission to provide cost-effective, high-quality patient care. SIS ASC solutions are currently used by about 40% of surgery centers in the U.S. and growing. In 2019, SIS introduced a new cloud ASC software platform, SIS Complete. More than 650 ASCs have chosen this next-generation solution to help them manage every aspect of their facility. On average, a new facility goes live on SIS ASC cloud technology each business day.

“When SIS embarked on the journey that would lead to the development of SIS Complete, our goal was to provide ASCs with a one-stop shop to meet their business office, clinical, communication, and reporting needs,” said Tom Stampiglia, CEO of Surgical Information Systems. “By delivering the first fully cloud-based ASC solution and bringing significant enhancements to it over the past three-plus years, we have been able to lower the total cost of ownership while delivering advanced capabilities. This has enabled ASCs to operate smart so they can focus more on providing excellent surgical care.”

On a single software as a service (SaaS) platform and one database, ASCs use SIS Complete to manage their front and back offices, including scheduling, registration, and billing; enable nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia providers to capture electronic clinical documentation for all phases of care; and deliver communications via text messaging and email for patients, including pre- and post-surgical questionnaires, reminders, and ride share notifications. Advanced capabilities include electronic case requests from surgeon practices to the ASC, electronic patient tracker boards, sophisticated inventory management, case costing, and analytics.

“Many ASCs are turning to advanced software technology to support their rapid growth in surgical volume and the addition of new procedures such as total joints and cardiology,” said Todd Logan, SIS Chief Growth Officer. “Deploying a cost-effective, cloud-based solution is the most efficient way to transition to an ASC-specific electronic health record (EHR). Paper charting and manual processes are impractical in today's technology-driven healthcare system. To remain viable and competitive, ASCs need better access to the data contained within the clinical records to enhance operations, facilitate more timely billing, make quality and regulatory reporting more efficient, and ultimately increase reimbursements through superior clinical quality.”

Independent third-party research firms have recognized SIS as the ASC market leader in EHR adoption. For the last seven years, SIS has been awarded the No. 1 overall ASC EHR vendor ranking by Black Book Research while KLAS Research named SIS Charts the "Best in KLAS" for ASC software in 2022.

Surgical Information Systems will be exhibiting at the Becker’s ASC Review's 28th Annual Business and Operations of ASC Conference, October 27–29, 2022, in Chicago, where the company will showcase SIS Complete and SIS Revenue Cycle Services. Exhibit hours are Thursday, October 27, from 5:15 PM – 7:00 PM and Friday, October 28, from 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
