Black Book™ 2025 report highlights Surgical Information Systems as leading provider of ASC technology

Alpharetta, Georgia, January 7, 2025 - Surgical Information Systems ("SIS"), the industry leader for business and clinical surgical software for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), announced it has been recognized as the No. 1 overall ASC Technology Vendor for the tenth consecutive year[1] in the Black Book 2025 report, Top Physician Practice EHR Software & Services User Survey Results: Ambulatory Surgical Centers.

"Surgical Information Systems has consistently been recognized as the leading provider of ASC technology across all user groups, including clinicians, physicians, nursing teams, administrative staff, and support personnel,” said Doug Brown, Managing Partner of Black Book Research. “This distinction underscores SIS’s unwavering commitment to delivering integrated, high-performing solutions that address the complex operational, clinical, and administrative requirements of ambulatory surgical centers.”

“Having won this prestigious honor for 10 consecutive years is a testament to our team’s unrelenting focus on meeting the unique needs of the ASC industry,” said Tom Stampiglia, chief executive officer of Surgical Information Systems. “This achievement would not be possible without the input and feedback from our valued and engaged clients as well as the work of our talented associates who are dedicated to creating solutions to help ASCs Operate Smart™.”

This year’s survey represented input from physicians, clinicians, and administrative staff at over 900 ASCs. SIS was named the top overall vendor for ASCs in all three functional subsets:

  • Solo practitioners
  • 2 to 10 practitioners and groups
  • 11 to 99 practitioners, groups, clinics, and enterprise medical organizations

When assessing vendors who deliver outpatient perioperative solutions, Black Book gathers information on 18 key performance indicators (KPIs). SIS took top honors in 12 out of 18 KPIs:

  • Strategic Alignment of Vendor Offerings to ASC Practice Goals & Client’s Mission
  • Compliance Facilitation and Regulatory Support
  • Quality and Responsiveness of Support Services
  • Workflow Optimization and Practice Efficiency
  • Comprehensive Training and Resource Accessibility
  • Integration and Interoperability
  • Reliability and Downtime Minimization
  • Data Security and HIPAA Compliance
  • Reimbursement Maximization Tools
  • Client Relationship Management
  • Implementation Effectiveness
  • Continuous Improvement and Updates

SIS technology scored in the top 15% across all 18 KPIs, earning a total score of 9.67 out of 10. Black Book states that such a score indicates that a vendor has achieved overwhelming client satisfaction, exceeded expectations, and is highly recommended.

The report highlighted SIS as a top-performing vendor due to their ability to align with the operational and regulatory needs of modern healthcare providers across various sizes and specialties. SIS was specifically recognized for their ability to adapt to new CMS rules, their support of value-based care initiatives, solutions that enhance workflow efficiency throughout the surgical process, and solutions that cater to practices of all sizes and a broad range of specialties.

“The team at SIS is honored to celebrate this notable achievement and continues to find even more ways to serve our over 2,700 ASCs,” said Stampiglia. “Our recent acquisition of Surgical Notes has allowed us to expand our software and services offerings even further with document management, transcription, and expanded revenue cycle management (RCM) capabilities.”
