Ryan Sparks, co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer at Nexus Health Resources, shares tips to help ensure your ASC can satisfy OAS CAHPS requirements
Starting this year, ASCs must participate in OAS CAHPS surveys as part of their quality reporting requirements. Failure to comply will lead to a 2.0% reduction in the annual fee schedule update for ASCs that do not meet this requirement. Below are key steps to confirm that your ASC complies with this new requirement.
Log in to the OAS CAHPS website using your ASC’s credentials and navigate to the “Facility Dashboard” to verify that your facility is listed as a registered entity. If your ASC is part of a group with multiple facilities, each facility is assigned a unique CMS Certification Number (CCN). You should see a separate record for each facility. You can find additional information on the OAS CAHPS site on registering your ASC.
To check vendor authorization, log into the site, navigate to the “For Facilities” menu, select “Vendor Authorization,” and then choose “Authorization Report.” A table will display your registered facilities, showing vendor authorization details under the “Authorize Vendor,” “Start Date,” and “End Date” columns. If no authorization is in place, these columns will be blank. Further details on how to authorize a vendor can be found on the OAS CAHPS site.
ASCs must provide a monthly list of patients to their OAS CAHPS survey vendor. You must also confirm that your ASC uses a secure method to transmit patient information files to the survey vendor, ensuring that data are encrypted before sending them to the vendor. If no patient data is available for a given month, or if your ASC was inactive for the requested period, the survey vendor must be notified accordingly. In a previous blog post, we explored how patient survey data will be used.
SIS Surveys, powered by Nexus Health, streamlines compliance by automating the monthly submission of patient lists through a direct data feed between SIS solutions and OAS CAHPS survey vendor Nexus Health Resources. Contact the SIS Team for more information.
